University of San Diego
I have taught methods for English learners and have been involved in bilingual education for over 25 years. I have also been engaged with theory and practice in these areas and have presented at over 40 national and international conferences on these topics. Five years ago, I brought Changemaking to our teacher preparation programs at USD. In the past years, I have combined these passions and areas of expertise to support teachers in acquiring the skills to facilitate their students' development as leaders and active participants in  finding solutions to common problems in the world and communities. I have worked closely not only with teachers but also with linguistically and culturally diverse members to collaborate in Changemaking initiatives in our communities in San Diego. My latest publication is entitled "Changemaking and English Learners (Els): Language, Content, and Skill Development through Experiential Education". In addition, I am the Director of The Changemaking Center for K-12 Education, which I launched at the end of 2020. Finally, I am on the Board of Directors of Doors of Change, an organization that serves homeless youth.
