Katia Zamorano started her career in bilingual education over 10 years ago and has taught in bilingual, dual language, and immersion classrooms in elementary schools. During her time in the classroom, she taught 1st, 2nd, and 4th grade transitional bilingual, one-way dual language, two-way, and immersion dual language. Katia also spent a year in Boulder, Colorado working as a Research Assistant. She currently serves as a Kindergarten through Second grade Language Arts and Social Studies facilitator for her district where her responsibilities included job-embedded coaching, providing professional development, and writing curriculum for numerous campuses. She received a BA in Bilingual Education from Midwestern State University and M.Ed in Bilingual Education with a Dual Language Specialization. Her passion and interests are dual language curriculum and working with emerging bilinguals and their teachers to promote biliteracy. She feels passionate about honoring this opportunity for students since she grew up in a Spanish-speaking immigrant family from Chile.
