Jennifer Núñez

South Whittier SD
1st grade dual language teacher
My name is Jennifer Nuñez and I am a first grade Spanish Dual Language Immersion teacher at South Whittier School District. I previously taught dual language at Pasadena Unified School District for three years. I was born in Los Angeles to parents who were raised in Oaxaca, Mexico. Spanish was my first language and I learned English through the ESL program in 2nd grade. I lived in Chicago for eight years where I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in education and immigration policy. I earned my teaching credential and Masters at Teaching at the University of Southern California and my Masters in Dual Language Development at Cal State Long Beach. When I’m not teaching, I am immersing myself in the world of salsa dancing. In addition to advocating for our students' use of their language repertoires in the classroom, I am a huge advocate for the arts because they provide alternative ways to communicate and showcase your personality to the world.
