Enid Lee is an anti-racist professional development specialist, leadership coach and writer.
She began her joyful journey as a teacher on the Caribbean island of Antigua 5 decades ago where she spent her formative years. She has also taught in Canada and the United States. Enid consults internationally on equitable education with particular emphasis on language, race and culture and their roles in education.
Enid has consulted on educational equity in the state of California for the past 20 years in a variety of roles: researcher at the Center for Language Minority Education and Research, California State University Long Beach; visiting scholar at the New Teacher Center, Santa Cruz; adjunct faculty in the Department of Educational Leadership, San Jose State University and as an instructional and leadership coach in many schools, school districts and county offices across the state.
Enid is the author of numerous publications, many of which have impacted the policy and practice of educational, cultural, and human services organizations in Canada and the United States. Her publications include Letters Marcia: A Teachers’ Guide to Anti-Racist Education; Beyond Heroes and Holidays: A Practical Guide to K-12 Anti-Racist Multicultural Education and Staff Development; “Anti-Racist Teaching” in the Encyclopedia of Diversity in Education and Checking and Changing My Systems for Equity.
 
She has been the recipient of several awards for her path-breaking work in anti-racist education and community building among Black communities and immigrant parents. In 2001, she received an Honorary Doctor of Laws from Queen’s University for her contribution to the development of anti-racist education in Canada. In 2008, the National Association of Multicultural Education in the United States named her Multicultural Educator of the Year and in 2017 she received the CABE Legacy Award for her contribution to anti-racist and equity-based education over the past 50 years.
She holds an Interdisciplinary Master of Arts in Sociolinguistics and Caribbean Literature from York University in Ontario, Canada.
Enid shares her time between Santa Cruz, California and Toronto, Ontario. In her spare time, she enjoys sitting outdoors and reading books for children of all ages.
