Marcela is an architect of dreams and one of her deepest beliefs is the power of partnership between families, educators and communities to support students to live out their life purpose. Marcela serves as the President and CEO of designEDengagement, PBC, a Latina-owned education consulting company based in Austin, Texas.
Prior to opening an education-consulting firm, Marcela served as the Program Director of Raising Family Partnerships with Raise Your Hand Texas, a public education advocacy organization in Texas. There she led the research, design, and implementation of a state-wide family engagement fellowship. Marcela also served as the Founding Operations Manager supporting the opening of four schools under the KIPP National network in Austin. Marcela started her career in education in Torreon, Coahuila Mexico as a 3rd and 4th grade teacher at a bilingual elementary.
A native Spanish speaker and proud daughter of immigrants from Cuba and Mexico, Marcela is a world traveler, dog-lover, business owner, and graduate of Saint Edward's University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and Harvard Graduate School of Education with a Master's in Education.
