Icy Smith is an author and the founder of East West Discovery Press. Founded in 2000, East West Discovery Press is an independent publisher and distributor of multicultural and bilingual children’s books with focus on history, cultures, and social justice. East West Discovery Press distributes bilingual children’s books in 50+ languages including Arabic, Burmese, Chinese, Farsi, Hindi, Hmong, Japanese, Korean, Punjabi, Russian, Somali, Spanish, Tagalog/Filipino, Urdu, Vietnamese, etc.

Smith is the award-winning author of many nonfiction and historical fiction works, including The Lonely Queue: The Forgotten History of the Courageous Chinese Americans in Los Angeles, Three Years and Eight Months, Mei Ling in China City, Half Spoon of Rice, and Mystery of the Giant Masks of Sanxingdui. Her new bilingual Eng/Spanish edition of Mei Ling in China City is selected for the 2021 Notable Social Studies Trade Books.
