Join CABE Board members in recognizing and honoring the recipients of the CABE Board "Courage to Act" Award. In 1989, a lone, armed gunman walked onto the Cleveland School campus and playground in Stockton USD during recess and shot and killed five students, all Southeast Asian refugees, and wounded 29 others. Several of the teachers formed the group "Cleveland School Remembers" to advocate for safe schools and reasonable gun laws and to advocate for English Learners, immigrant students and refugees.
