In this session, Theresa Young (Speech Language Pathologist) and Cristina Sánchez-López (Bilingual Educator) introduce a collaborative framework for developing culturally and linguistically sustaining learning environments for multilingual learners with special educational needs. Key elements of evidence-based classroom instruction and intervention will be highlighted. Building upon a student-centered focus, these elements include: peer to peer interactions, oral communication, emphasis on comprehension, and supporting multilingualism. Research and online resources will be shared.
