In this presentation, we will discuss Dually Identified students who are both English Learners (ELs) and who also have special needs. We will discuss how ELs and students with special needs are assessed and we will consider the implications of academic instruction for Dually Identified students. Further, we will present practical strategies to appropriately support students’ unique educational needs. At the conclusion of the presentation, parents, novice teachers and teacher candidates will be provided with applicable and practical information.
