In these challenging times, it’s important to attend to the socio-emotional needs of our students and ourselves. In this session, we provide strategies for dual language teachers to create a strong foundation by attending to their own self-care as well as the needs of their teaching partner. We then propose an approach to culturally sustaining classroom management to promote an affirming classroom environment for all learners. Implementing this approach jointly can strengthen relationships with students and reduce teachers’ professional stress.
