This seminar is designed to build educator’s cultural competence and increase their knowledge of instructional methodologies that advance learning in SELs.

Culturally Competent educators who embrace linguistic diversity are vital for removing barriers to accessing rigorous core curricula for Standard English Learners (SELs). An understanding of culturally and linguistically responsive pedagogy that builds on the language, learning styles,
cultural competencies, and experiences of SEL students, is prerequisite for ensuring equity and access to rigorous standards-based curricula.
