One untapped resource for bilingual/dual language/multilingual teacher preparation is California’s Mini-Corps Program. Currently, over 400 undergraduate students from migrant backgrounds work as tutors in approximately 1,500 highly-diverse schools throughout the state of California. In this session, we share the results of over 150 surveys and six focus groups across the State. We will share how tutors’ cultural and linguistic capital can be acknowledged and what they see as the benefits and challenges of becoming teachers.
