This workshop will show the power of oracy and story-telling as a way for students to develop academic proficiency in English. It will provide a series of hands-on activities teachers can use to promote their students' oral voices as a direct tool to develop strong academic language and literacy bases. Participants will participate in activities they can use in their classrooms to help their students discover and cherish their own voices and stories and will learn new ways to promote oracy through the challenges we face with long distance learning. Participants will discover ways to break down the plastic computer screen and connect with their students to from a true community of love, trust, and hope.
