This presentation serves as a springboard for rethinking the role of digital literacy practices and identity development among today's youth. Due to the seamless and multimodal nature of new literacy practices, educators and researchers should have a time and space to carefully dissect ways youth could harness technology to produce original content and capture systemic inequities in their communities. With a critical perspective, educators could facilitate student-led projects towards social justice and community empowerment.
