This workshop examines professional learning on the writing instruction of ELs through differentiated instruction and a critical lens on diversity. Through a “learning about my students” approach to instruction and assessments, teachers focused on the strengths of students, rather than deficits. The three-year project involved DLE teachers across three districts collaborating in grade-level teams to design, implement and provide feedback to lessons and artifacts. Leaders and teachers will present processes and outcomes to improve both English and Spanish writing.
